Costa Almeria

 

The sheer beauty of the dramatic and rugged countryside of the Costa Almeria golden evening light and vast sparkling night sky add a sensation of timelessness and space to this south-eastern corner of Spain's Mediterranean coast. Principally an agricultural area, the Costa de Almeria areas remains largely untouched by tourism and mass development and retains its typical Spanish charm.

Costa Almeria

The Costa Almeria has a subtropical climate, nestled as it is on the Mediterranean coast, it is warm and dry with a total of over 3000 hours sunshine each year the Costa Almeria. It also has many coastal resorts and traditional fishing villages still thrive

Albox

Albox is a traditional white-washed village with it's narrow streets and numerous plazas in which to while away the hours. Albox offers all of the necessary services and amenities including shops, opticians, dentists, doctors, schools, restaurants and bars.

Agua Amarga

Cabo de Gata

The coastline of the Parque Natural de Cabo de Gata is to say the least, dramatic. Isolated sandy coves, rugged mountains and black cliffs plunge nigh on vertically into the sea. Cabo de Gata is one of the few remaining hidden paradises in the Mediterranean, part of the  Nijar Natural Park, a 30km long coastal strip made from a sub-desert mountain range, which has produced through the centuries some of the most spectacular beaches and coves.

The crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean welcome underwater photographic safaris and all forms of fishing year round. Other water sports offered are sailing or windsurfing. For those that prefer terra firma land there are interesting excursions to follow on foot, by bicycle or in 4-wheel drive vehicles

Garrucha

Garrucha is another traditional Spanish fishing town found between the popular beaches of Mojácar and Vera playa.

Numerous restaurants, specializing in locally caught fish, have sprung up along the Paseo Maritimo in Garrucha offering the catch of the day, that has been bought at the afternoon auction on the quayside.

Garrucha offers a respite from the local tourist attractions, with its wide sandy beach offers a perfect place to sunbathe, play sports or just relax and enjoy the view. The natural charm and appeal of Garrucha complements its exquisite fish and a sandy shores, which will surely entice you to return.

Mojacar

Hidden away in the south-eastern corner of Spain, you will find the picturesque village of Mojácar. If you are in search of a relaxing destination in the sun then Mojácar must be on your list. Mojácar has recently been rediscovered by international tourists, who are now flocking to the area, in attempt to purchase that ideal holiday home in the sun.

Mojácar is an ancient Moorish village situated in the foothills of the Sierra Cabrera Mountains. Roquetas de Mar

Roquetas de Mar is still a traditional Spanish fishing town essentially as it was decades ago. Yes there has been some development and the the infrastructure has improved but Roquetas de Mar still offers a traditional charm.

Roquetas de Mar is part of the Natural Park and the outlying marshes attract many species of indigenous birds and flamingos which come here to breed.

Roquetas de Mar offers a small marina surrounded by tapas bars and attractive restaurants, specializing in locally caught fish dishes.

San Jose

San José is a charming little town hidden away in a wide sheltered bay along the coastline of the Parque Natural de Cabo de Gata - Nijar.

San José is found in a natural wide bay formed by two huge sections of volcanic rock. Many virgin beaches and coves nearby are ideal for sunbathers in search of peace and tranquility.

Recently discovered by tourism, San José now boasts two ports, one for fishing and one for sport activities, plus a small number chalets and apartments that have sprung up to cater for the increasing number of tourists who have discovered the natural beauty.
